का रा॑ध॒द्धोत्रा॑श्विना वां॒ को वां॒ जोष॑ उ॒भयोः॑ । क॒था वि॑धा॒त्यप्र॑चेताः
kā rādhaddhotrāśvinā vāṃ ko vāṃ joṣa ubhayoḥ kathā vidhātyapracetāḥ
Who, O Ashvins, took you both? Who praised you both? How did the unknowing ones arrange you?

वि॒द्वांसा॒विद्दुरः॑ पृच्छे॒दवि॑द्वानि॒त्थाप॑रो अचे॒ताः । नू चि॒न्नु मर्ते॒ अक्रौ॑
vidvāṃsāvidduraḥ pṛcchedavidvānitthāparo acetāḥ nū cinnu marte akrau
Should the wise ask the far-off or the ignorant ask the wise? Truly the mortal does not call; he did not hear.

ता वि॒द्वांसा॑ हवामहे वां॒ ता नो॑ वि॒द्वांसा॒ मन्म॑ वोचेतम॒द्य । प्रार्च॒द्दय॑मानो यु॒वाकुः॑
tā vidvāṃsā havāmahe vāṃ tā no vidvāṃsā manma vocetamadya prārcaddayamāno yuvākuḥ
Those wise ones we invoke, those wise ones should speak to us today. Having risen in worship the young men addressed (them).

वि पृ॑च्छामि पा॒क्या॒३॒॑ न दे॒वान्वष॑ट्कृतस्याद्भु॒तस्य॑ दस्रा । पा॒तं च॒ सह्य॑सो यु॒वं च॒ रभ्य॑सो नः
vi pṛcchāmi pākyā3 na devānvaṣaṭkṛtasyādbhutasya dasrā pātaṃ ca sahyaso yuvaṃ ca rabhyaso naḥ
I ask about the sacrificial portions, not the gods’ eightfold wealth; be it of what has become, the tenth. May the support and the rising strength be ours, not the harmful for us.

प्र या घोषे॒ भृग॑वाणे॒ न शोभे॒ यया॑ वा॒चा यज॑ति पज्रि॒यो वा॑म् । प्रैष॒युर्न वि॒द्वान्
pra yā ghoṣe bhṛgavāṇe na śobhe yayā vācā yajati pajriyo vām praiṣayurna vidvān
At the proclamation may it not be unlovely for Bhrigu’s line—by whose word one sacrifices, O people. Send not forth one who is not wise.

श्रु॒तं गा॑य॒त्रं तक॑वानस्या॒हं चि॒द्धि रि॒रेभा॑श्विना वाम् । आक्षी शु॑भस्पती॒ दन्
śrutaṃ gāyatraṃ takavānasyāhaṃ ciddhi rirebhāśvinā vām ākṣī śubhaspatī dan
I have heard the Gayatri, the powerful; I chanted the hundredfold (verse) with the steeds on the left. Auspicious lord, give a gift.

यु॒वं ह्यास्तं॑ म॒हो रन्यु॒वं वा॒ यन्नि॒रत॑तंसतम् । ता नो॑ वसू सुगो॒पा स्या॑तं पा॒तं नो॒ वृका॑दघा॒योः
yuvaṃ hyāstaṃ maho ranyuvaṃ vā yanniratataṃsatam tā no vasū sugopā syātaṃ pātaṃ no vṛkādaghāyoḥ
You indeed are that great rain-lord, or that which is spread afar; may those riches be ours — a good herdsman may the track bring us, the pastures of the wolves.

मा कस्मै॑ धातम॒भ्य॑मि॒त्रिणे॑ नो॒ माकुत्रा॑ नो गृ॒हेभ्यो॑ धे॒नवो॑ गुः । स्त॒ना॒भुजो॒ अशि॑श्वीः
mā kasmai dhātamabhyamitriṇe no mākutrā no gṛhebhyo dhenavo guḥ stanābhujo aśiśvīḥ
Do not place me among whose enemies; not against our kin, not against our homes—oxen are the herd; breast and arm are vigorous.

दु॒ही॒यन्मि॒त्रधि॑तये यु॒वाकु॑ रा॒ये च॑ नो मिमी॒तं वाज॑वत्यै । इ॒षे च॑ नो मिमीतं धेनु॒मत्यै॑
duhīyanmitradhitaye yuvāku rāye ca no mimītaṃ vājavatyai iṣe ca no mimītaṃ dhenumatyai
May you, for friendship’s sake, seek cattle for our realm and bestow upon us this prize of wealth. Desire for us this cow’s strength.

अ॒श्विनो॑रसनं॒ रथ॑मन॒श्वं वा॒जिनी॑वतोः । तेना॒हं भूरि॑ चाकन
aśvinorasanaṃ rathamanaśvaṃ vājinīvatoḥ tenāhaṃ bhūri cākana
Ashvins, the chariot-bed, the chariot-horse, swift as Vājinī—by them I became much stronger.

अ॒यं स॑मह मा तनू॒ह्याते॒ जना॒ँ अनु॑ । सो॒म॒पेयं॑ सु॒खो रथः॑
ayaṃ samaha mā tanūhyāte janām̐ anu somapeyaṃ sukho rathaḥ
This equal share, do not let it thin among people; Soma-drink, this is the pleasant chariot.

अध॒ स्वप्न॑स्य॒ निर्वि॒देऽभु॑ञ्जतश्च रे॒वतः॑ । उ॒भा ता बस्रि॑ नश्यतः
adha svapnasya nirvide'bhuñjataśca revataḥ ubhā tā basri naśyataḥ
Below the dream he partook undiscovered, and those two were carried away; both the seats were ruined.
