ह॒विष्कृ॑णुध्व॒मा ग॑मदध्व॒र्युर्व॑नते॒ पुनः॑ । वि॒द्वाँ अ॑स्य प्र॒शास॑नम्
haviṣkṛṇudhvamā gamadadhvaryurvanate punaḥ vidvām̐ asya praśāsanam
Offer the oblation, go forth, O harnessed steed of the Maruts; let him who knows direct this worship.

नि ति॒ग्मम॒भ्यं१॒॑शुं सीद॒द्धोता॑ म॒नावधि॑ । जु॒षा॒णो अ॑स्य स॒ख्यम्
ni tigmamabhyaṃ1śuṃ sīdaddhotā manāvadhi juṣāṇo asya sakhyam
Seat the fragrant clarified butter, O sacrificer, with steadfast mind; may this be his friendship.

अ॒न्तरि॑च्छन्ति॒ तं जने॑ रु॒द्रं प॒रो म॑नी॒षया॑ । गृ॒भ्णन्ति॑ जि॒ह्वया॑ स॒सम्
antaricchanti taṃ jane rudraṃ paro manīṣayā gṛbhṇanti jihvayā sasam
They lay Rudra within the people by supreme thought; they seize him with the tongue together.

जा॒म्य॑तीतपे॒ धनु॑र्वयो॒धा अ॑रुह॒द्वन॑म् । दृ॒षदं॑ जि॒ह्वयाव॑धीत्
jāmyatītape dhanurvayodhā aruhadvanam dṛṣadaṃ jihvayāvadhīt
The bow of the warrior climbed the forest like a blazing sun; behold how the tongue has been brought low.

चर॑न्व॒त्सो रुश॑न्नि॒ह नि॑दा॒तारं॒ न वि॑न्दते । वेति॒ स्तोत॑व अ॒म्ब्य॑म्
caranvatso ruśanniha nidātāraṃ na vindate veti stotava ambyam
A footed calf that grazes here finds not the slumbering refreshment; he praises the waters.

uto nvasya yanmahadaśvāvadyojanaṃ bṛhad dāmā rathasya dadṛśe
Behold his great team of steeds yoked to the wide chariot; the reins of the chariot were seen.

दु॒हन्ति॑ स॒प्तैका॒मुप॒ द्वा पञ्च॑ सृजतः । ती॒र्थे सिन्धो॒रधि॑ स्व॒रे
duhanti saptaikāmupa dvā pañca sṛjataḥ tīrthe sindhoradhi svare
They milk in seven one at a time, two and five being produced; in the ford the ocean’s flood is in voice.

आ द॒शभि॑र्वि॒वस्व॑त॒ इन्द्रः॒ कोश॑मचुच्यवीत् । खेद॑या त्रि॒वृता॑ दि॒वः
ā daśabhirvivasvata indraḥ kośamacucyavīt khedayā trivṛtā divaḥ
Indra with ten harnessed rays pierced the cavern of Vivasvat; heaven was threefold enveloped in sorrow.

परि॑ त्रि॒धातु॑रध्व॒रं जू॒र्णिरे॑ति॒ नवी॑यसी । मध्वा॒ होता॑रो अञ्जते
pari tridhāturadhvaraṃ jūrṇireti navīyasī madhvā hotāro añjate
Around the threefold prince’s chariot the old and new steeds came; the quick attendant struck the sacrificer.

सि॒ञ्चन्ति॒ नम॑साव॒तमु॒च्चाच॑क्रं॒ परि॑ज्मानम् । नी॒चीन॑बार॒मक्षि॑तम्
siñcanti namasāvatamuccācakraṃ parijmānam nīcīnabāramakṣitam
They sprinkle salutations, raised the wide deck around, besmearing the low seat and the bar of the eye.

अ॒भ्यार॒मिदद्र॑यो॒ निषि॑क्तं॒ पुष्क॑रे॒ मधु॑ । अ॒व॒तस्य॑ वि॒सर्ज॑ने
abhyāramidadrayo niṣiktaṃ puṣkare madhu avatasya visarjane
These waters of libation were poured, fixed in the lotus—honey; for the opening and the release.

गाव॒ उपा॑वताव॒तं म॒ही य॒ज्ञस्य॑ र॒प्सुदा॑ । उ॒भा कर्णा॑ हिर॒ण्यया॑
gāva upāvatāvataṃ mahī yajñasya rapsudā ubhā karṇā hiraṇyayā
Cows approached and stood, earth the giver of sacrifice’s delight; both ears were golden-horned.

आ सु॒ते सि॑ञ्चत॒ श्रियं॒ रोद॑स्योरभि॒श्रिय॑म् । र॒सा द॑धीत वृष॒भम्
ā sute siñcata śriyaṃ rodasyorabhiśriyam rasā dadhīta vṛṣabham
They poured forth prosperity into the streams of the rivers; the juice sustained the bull.

ते जा॑नत॒ स्वमो॒क्यं१॒॑ सं व॒त्सासो॒ न मा॒तृभिः॑ । मि॒थो न॑सन्त जा॒मिभिः॑
te jānata svamokyaṃ1 saṃ vatsāso na mātṛbhiḥ mitho nasanta jāmibhiḥ
They knew their own release and went, O calves, not bound to mothers; together they sought the yoked mares.

उप॒ स्रक्वे॑षु॒ बप्स॑तः कृण्व॒ते ध॒रुणं॑ दि॒वि । इन्द्रे॑ अ॒ग्ना नमः॒ स्वः॑
upa srakveṣu bapsataḥ kṛṇvate dharuṇaṃ divi indre agnā namaḥ svaḥ
He makes streams flow in the vessels; he establishes the firm earth in the sky. Salutations to Indra and Agni of Svarga.

अधु॑क्षत्पि॒प्युषी॒मिष॒मूर्जं॑ स॒प्तप॑दीम॒रिः । सूर्य॑स्य स॒प्त र॒श्मिभिः॑
adhukṣatpipyuṣīmiṣamūrjaṃ saptapadīmariḥ sūryasya sapta raśmibhiḥ
He called forth the thirst-quenching, sour sap, the seven-footed cattle; the sun with his seven rays.

सोम॑स्य मित्रावरु॒णोदि॑ता॒ सूर॒ आ द॑दे । तदातु॑रस्य भेष॒जम्
somasya mitrāvaruṇoditā sūra ā dade tadāturasya bheṣajam
Mitra and Varuna of Soma gave the shining sun; may that bring healing as a remedy for the feverish.

उ॒तो न्व॑स्य॒ यत्प॒दं ह॑र्य॒तस्य॑ निधा॒न्य॑म् । परि॒ द्यां जि॒ह्वया॑तनत्
uto nvasya yatpadaṃ haryatasya nidhānyam pari dyāṃ jihvayātanat
Behold his very foot’s deposited treasure; around the sky the tongue turned and spread.
