प्रति॒ ष्या सू॒नरी॒ जनी॑ व्यु॒च्छन्ती॒ परि॒ स्वसुः॑ । दि॒वो अ॑दर्शि दुहि॒ता
prati ṣyā sūnarī janī vyucchantī pari svasuḥ divo adarśi duhitā
Against the bitch (hound) is born the son who rends; she, scattering her own, beheld the sky’s milking—

अश्वे॑व चि॒त्रारु॑षी मा॒ता गवा॑मृ॒ताव॑री । सखा॑भूद॒श्विनो॑रु॒षाः
aśveva citrāruṣī mātā gavāmṛtāvarī sakhābhūdaśvinoruṣāḥ
Like a horse, lovely-rayed, mother of cows, purveyor of milk; companion became the Ashvins, radiant in their manifestations.

उ॒त सखा॑स्य॒श्विनो॑रु॒त मा॒ता गवा॑मसि । उ॒तोषो॒ वस्व॑ ईशिषे
uta sakhāsyaśvinoruta mātā gavāmasi utoṣo vasva īśiṣe
As companion of the Ashvins you rose, mother of cows; you desired wealth, O Vasva, the potent one.

या॒व॒यद्द्वे॑षसं त्वा चिकि॒त्वित्सू॑नृतावरि । प्रति॒ स्तोमै॑रभुत्स्महि
yāvayaddveṣasaṃ tvā cikitvitsūnṛtāvari prati stomairabhutsmahi
Though hostile at times, you healed us with flowing wisdom; you began to be praised in our hymns.

प्रति॑ भ॒द्रा अ॑दृक्षत॒ गवां॒ सर्गा॒ न र॒श्मयः॑ । ओषा अ॑प्रा उ॒रु ज्रयः॑
prati bhadrā adṛkṣata gavāṃ sargā na raśmayaḥ oṣā aprā uru jrayaḥ
Against us the auspicious ones saw not the progenitors of kine: the rays did not create the herds; months did not bring forth great increase.

āpapruṣī vibhāvari vyāvarjyotiṣā tamaḥ uṣo anu svadhāmava
They spread over the waters, the bright refulgence, dispelling the darkness; Dawn follows her own ritual (svadha).

आ द्यां त॑नोषि र॒श्मिभि॒रान्तरि॑क्षमु॒रु प्रि॒यम् । उषः॑ शु॒क्रेण॑ शो॒चिषा॑
ā dyāṃ tanoṣi raśmibhirāntarikṣamuru priyam uṣaḥ śukreṇa śociṣā
I bring radiant beams into the atmosphere, beloved; Dawn, by her brightness, causes lamentation with the shining one.
