यजा॑मह॒ इन्द्रं॒ वज्र॑दक्षिणं॒ हरी॑णां र॒थ्यं१॒॑ विव्र॑तानाम् । प्र श्मश्रु॒ दोधु॑वदू॒र्ध्वथा॑ भू॒द्वि सेना॑भि॒र्दय॑मानो॒ वि राध॑सा
yajāmaha indraṃ vajradakṣiṇaṃ harīṇāṃ rathyaṃ1 vivratānām pra śmaśru dodhuvadūrdhvathā bhūdvi senābhirdayamāno vi rādhasā
We sacrificed Indra, the bolt to the right, the chariot of the deer, the fast‑moving ones set apart. They, ascending, smeared and milked upward; on earth, the host with their forces moved with the rushing ones.

हरी॒ न्व॑स्य॒ या वने॑ वि॒दे वस्विन्द्रो॑ म॒घैर्म॒घवा॑ वृत्र॒हा भु॑वत् । ऋ॒भुर्वाज॑ ऋभु॒क्षाः प॑त्यते॒ शवोऽव॑ क्ष्णौमि॒ दास॑स्य॒ नाम॑ चित्
harī nvasya yā vane vide vasvindro maghairmaghavā vṛtrahā bhuvat ṛbhurvāja ṛbhukṣāḥ patyate śavo'va kṣṇaumi dāsasya nāma cit
The deer of the forest which roamed in the wood became Vāsavya by the gifts of Indra and the heroes. The skilful wielder of strength offers sacrifice; I have cut the offering, serving the slave's name.

य॒दा वज्रं॒ हिर॑ण्य॒मिदथा॒ रथं॒ हरी॒ यम॑स्य॒ वह॑तो॒ वि सू॒रिभिः॑ । आ ति॑ष्ठति म॒घवा॒ सन॑श्रुत॒ इन्द्रो॒ वाज॑स्य दी॒र्घश्र॑वस॒स्पतिः॑
yadā vajraṃ hiraṇyamidathā rathaṃ harī yamasya vahato vi sūribhiḥ ā tiṣṭhati maghavā sanaśruta indro vājasya dīrghaśravasaspatiḥ
When the bolt shone like gold, the chariot of the deer carried it with heroes. It stood: the mighty, renowned Indra, lord of the hymn, prolonged the fame of the thunderbolt's strength.

सो चि॒न्नु वृ॒ष्टिर्यू॒थ्या॒३॒॑ स्वा सचा॒ँ इन्द्रः॒ श्मश्रू॑णि॒ हरि॑ता॒भि प्रु॑ष्णुते । अव॑ वेति सु॒क्षयं॑ सु॒ते मधूदिद्धू॑नोति॒ वातो॒ यथा॒ वन॑म्
so cinnu vṛṣṭiryūthyā3 svā sacām̐ indraḥ śmaśrūṇi haritābhi pruṣṇute ava veti sukṣayaṃ sute madhūdiddhūnoti vāto yathā vanam
He cut the rain and scattered the troop; Indra with his wet locks struck the green fields. The wind departs like a forest that sweetly pours the clarified juice.

यो वा॒चा विवा॑चो मृ॒ध्रवा॑चः पु॒रू स॒हस्राशि॑वा ज॒घान॑ । तत्त॒दिद॑स्य॒ पौंस्यं॑ गृणीमसि पि॒तेव॒ यस्तवि॑षीं वावृ॒धे शवः॑
yo vācā vivāco mṛdhravācaḥ purū sahasrāśivā jaghāna tattadidasya pauṃsyaṃ gṛṇīmasi piteva yastaviṣīṃ vāvṛdhe śavaḥ
He who spoke many‑voiced words, rich in sweetness, struck a thousandfold blow. I call that the father's portion; he who nurtured deadly poison guarded the beast.

स्तोमं॑ त इन्द्र विम॒दा अ॑जीजन॒न्नपू॑र्व्यं पुरु॒तमं॑ सु॒दान॑वे । वि॒द्मा ह्य॑स्य॒ भोज॑नमि॒नस्य॒ यदा प॒शुं न गो॒पाः क॑रामहे
stomaṃ ta indra vimadā ajījanannapūrvyaṃ purutamaṃ sudānave vidmā hyasya bhojanaminasya yadā paśuṃ na gopāḥ karāmahe
That hymn, Indra, was sung with praise, ancient, foremost among benefactors. We know his feast when herdsmen did not make cattle his care.

माकि॑र्न ए॒ना स॒ख्या वि यौ॑षु॒स्तव॑ चेन्द्र विम॒दस्य॑ च॒ ऋषेः॑ । वि॒द्मा हि ते॒ प्रम॑तिं देव जामि॒वद॒स्मे ते॑ सन्तु स॒ख्या शि॒वानि॑
mākirna enā sakhyā vi yauṣustava cendra vimadasya ca ṛṣeḥ vidmā hi te pramatiṃ deva jāmivadasme te santu sakhyā śivāni
Do not make enemies of these your comrades among the youthful ones, O Indra and Vṛtrahan; we know your wise counsel. May you be friends to me like a protector—may you grant auspiciousness and favor.
