स्पर्ध॑न्ते॒ वा उ॑ देव॒हूये॒ अत्र॒ येषु॑ ध्व॒जेषु॑ दि॒द्यवः॒ पत॑न्ति । यु॒वं ताँ इ॑न्द्रावरुणाव॒मित्रा॑न्ह॒तं परा॑चः॒ शर्वा॒ विषू॑चः
spardhante vā u devahūye atra yeṣu dhvajeṣu didyavaḥ patanti yuvaṃ tām̐ indrāvaruṇāvamitrānhataṃ parācaḥ śarvā viṣūcaḥ
They contend where the bannered ones shine in their standards. You, friends of Indra and Varuna, struck down the enemy afar—piercers and chargers.
In the conflict where (combatants) strive against us, in those (contests) in which bright (weapons) fallupon the banners, do you two, Indra and Varuṇa, slay with your shaft those enemies who have been routed, andare scattered in various directions.
Here where the arrows fall amid the banners both hosts invoke the Gods in emulation. O Indra-Varuna, smite back those-our foemen,yea, smite them withyour shaft to every quarter.
