अ॒यमु॒ ष्य सुम॑हाँ अवेदि॒ होता॑ म॒न्द्रो मनु॑षो य॒ह्वो अ॒ग्निः । वि भा अ॑कः ससृजा॒नः पृ॑थि॒व्यां कृ॒ष्णप॑वि॒रोष॑धीभिर्ववक्षे
ayamu ṣya sumahām̐ avedi hotā mandro manuṣo yahvo agniḥ vi bhā akaḥ sasṛjānaḥ pṛthivyāṃ kṛṣṇapaviroṣadhībhirvavakṣe
This great seer perceived the sacrificer; the gentle charioteer is man, Agni the god. He formed the bright sun, appointed herbs on earth, and made the black soil fertile for us.
This great Agni has been known among men as invoker (of the gods), the giver of deligh, the mighty; hehas spread (in the firmament), he, the darkpathed at large upon the earth, is nourished by the plural nts.
Yea, he hath been acknowledged as most mighty, the joyous Priest of men, the youthful Agni. He, spreading o'er the earth, made light around him, and grew among the plants with blackened fellies..
