indro yātūnāmabhavatparāśaro havirmathīnāmabhyā3vivāsatām abhīdu śakraḥ paraśuryathā vanaṃ pātreva bhindansata eti rakṣasaḥ
Indra became as a slayer of those going forth; he, like Parāśara, poured the oblation for the charioteers. Like a mighty axe he cleaves the forest as if it were a vessel—so the protectors go forth.
Indra has ever been the discomfiter of the evil spirits coming to obstruct (the rites of) the offerers ofoblations; Śakra advances, crushing the present rākṣasas, as a hatchet cuts down (the trees of) a forest, as (amallet smashes) the earthen vessels.
Indra hath ever been the fiends' destroyer who spoil oblations of the Gods' invokers: Yea, Sakra, like an axe that spilts the timber, attacks and smashes them like earthen vessels.
