अहि॑रिव भो॒गैः पर्ये॑ति बा॒हुं ज्याया॑ हे॒तिं प॑रि॒बाध॑मानः । ह॒स्त॒घ्नो विश्वा॑ व॒युना॑नि वि॒द्वान्पुमा॒न्पुमां॑सं॒ परि॑ पातु वि॒श्वतः॑
ahiriva bhogaiḥ paryeti bāhuṃ jyāyā hetiṃ paribādhamānaḥ hastaghno viśvā vayunāni vidvānpumānpumāṃsaṃ pari pātu viśvataḥ
Like serpents he goes about enjoying riches, pressing the arm beyond its measure, surrounding as reason; the hand-slayer, learned in winds, may the man protect the flesh of men everywhere.
The ward of the fore-arm protecting it from the abrasion of the bow-string, surrounds the arm like a snake with its convulutions; may the brave man, experienced in the arts of war, defend a combatant on every side.
It compasses the arm with serpent windings, fending away the friction of the bowstring: So may the Brace, well-skilled in all its duties, guard manfully the man from every quarter.
