pra samrāje bṛhate manma nu priyamarca devāya varuṇāya saprathaḥ ayaṃ ya urvī mahinā mahivrataḥ kratvā vibhātyajaro na śociṣā
First, with great dominion make joyous the god Varuna by a loving rite, O mighty king. This which the high-armed one performed with great resolve — the brave, unageing one does not sorrow.
Repeat acceptable and all-comprehensive praise to the imperial mighty divine Varuṇa, he who, endowed with greatness, with wisdom, and with splendour, illumines the spacious (heaven and earth).
Now will I sing a dear and far-extending hymn to Varuna the God, sublime, imperial Lord, Who, mighty Governor, Eternal, as with flame, illumines both wide worlds with majesty and power.
