dyāvo na yasya panayantyabhvaṃ bhāsāṃsi vaste sūryo na śukraḥ vi ya inotyajaraḥ pāvako'śnasya cicchiśnathatpūrvyāṇi
The heavens do not pour out for him whose who do not tend the shining forms; the sun is not luminous nor bright for one whose vital spark is aged; the purifier (Agni) consumes and desires the former offerings.
Whose great deeds his worshipers now celebrate, who is clothed with light, radiant as the sun, exempt from decay, the purifier, he illumes (all things), and destroys the ancient cities of the dispersed (evil beings).
Whose might the very heavens regard with wonder: bright as the Sun he clothes himself with lustre. He who sends forth,, Eternal Purifier, hath shattered e'en the ancient works of Asna.
