नाना॒ ह्य१॒॑ग्नेऽव॑से॒ स्पर्ध॑न्ते॒ रायो॑ अ॒र्यः । तूर्व॑न्तो॒ दस्यु॑मा॒यवो॑ व्र॒तैः सीक्ष॑न्तो अव्र॒तम्
nānā hya1gne'vase spardhante rāyo aryaḥ tūrvanto dasyumāyavo vrataiḥ sīkṣanto avratam
Diverse are the contests in the place of Agni, O noble ones. Swiftly the Dasyus, the Magicians, striving by vows, teach the unrighteous.
The manifold treasures of the enemy (detached from them) are emulous, Agni, for the preservation (of your worshippers); men who worship you, triumphing over the spoiler, seek to shame him who celebrates no sacred rite by (their) observances.
The foeman's wealth in many a place, Agni, is emulous to help. Men fight the fiend, and seek by rites to overcome the riteless foe.
