sāsmākebhiretarī na śūṣairagniḥ ṣṭave dama ā jātavedāḥ drvanno vanvankratvā nārvosraḥ piteva jārayāyi yajñaiḥ
For us the fires came not dry by these rites; the born Vājins made the offering. Having fetched wood and the forest’s sap, they drank the pressed milk for the sacrifices.
Agni, who knows all that exists, is propitiated in our dwelling by our praises, like those gratifying (commendations which proceed) from one soliciting (a favour); feeder upon trees, consumer of forests, impetuous in act as the bull, the (progenitor of calves), he is glorified by the celebration of sacrifices.
Our friends extol him like a steed for vigour even Agni in the dwelling, jatave~as. Trce-fed, he fights with power as doth a champion, like Dawn's Sire to be praised with sacrifices.
