udagne tiṣṭha pratyā tanuṣva nya1mitrām̐ oṣatāttigmahete yo no arātiṃ samidhāna cakre nīcā taṃ dhakṣyatasaṃ na śuṣkam
Stand up near the rising fire; stretch forth, O friend, we hasten for the healer. He who made us not undone by offering and heap—him lowly shall the dexterous not leave dry.
Sharp-weaponed Agni, rise up; spread wide (your flames) against (the rākṣasas); entirely consume the foes; blazing Agni, burn down him who acts as an enemy towards us like a piece of dry timber.
Rise up, O Agni, spread thee out before us: burn down our foes, thou who hast sharpened arrows. Him, blazing Agni! who hath worked us mischief, consume thou utterly like dried-up stubble.
