ते म॑र्मृजत ददृ॒वांसो॒ अद्रिं॒ तदे॑षाम॒न्ये अ॒भितो॒ वि वो॑चन् । प॒श्वय॑न्त्रासो अ॒भि का॒रम॑र्चन्वि॒दन्त॒ ज्योति॑श्चकृ॒पन्त॑ धी॒भिः
te marmṛjata dadṛvāṃso adriṃ tadeṣāmanye abhito vi vocan paśvayantrāso abhi kāramarcanvidanta jyotiścakṛpanta dhībhiḥ
They rubbed the marrow and made liquid offerings, addressing the hill; others nearby spoke to them. The herdsmen set the beasts toward the work, and lights struck compassion with their wits.
Rending the rocks, they worshipped (Agni), and other (sages) taught everywhere their (acts); unprovided with the means of (extricating) the cattle, they glorified the author of success, whence they found the light, and were thus enabled (to worship him) with holy ceremonies.
Splendid were they when they had rent the mountain: others, around, shall tell forth this their exploit. They sang their song, prepared to free the cattle: they found the light; with holy hymns they worshipped.
