bṛhaspate tapuṣāśneva vidhya vṛkadvaraso asurasya vīrān yathā jaghantha dhṛṣatā purā cidevā jahi śatrumasmākamindra
Bṛhaspati invoked the sacred rites and called forth the heroes of the Asura’s lair. As when they smote the firm fortress and the gods once shattered the foe, so, Indra, strike down our enemy.
Pierce, Bṛhaspati, with a radiant shaft, as with a thunderbolt, the sons of the asura guarding his gates; in like manner as you did formerly slay Vṛtra by your own prowess, so do you now destroy our enemy.
As with a bolt, Brhaspati, fiercely flaming, pierce thou Vrkadvaras', the Asura's, heroes. Even as in time of old with might thou slewest, so slay even now our enemy, O Indra.
