By you we gain loftiest understanding, Brihaspati; restrain bad counsel from us. Let not malice find place; with wise thoughts direct us to praise and truth.
Through you, Bṛhaspati, (who are) the fulfiller of our desires; pure, and associated (with us), we possess excellent food; let not the wicked man who wishes to deceive us be our master; but let us, excelling in (pious) praises, attain (prosperity).
With thee as our own rich and liberal ally may we, Brhaspati, gain highest power of life. Let not the guileful wicked man be lord of us:-still may we prosper, singing goodly hymns of praise.
