In the high place he generated the invoked seed, O Agni, the womb among men; wrapped in mighty coverings he dwells, the wise ones dwell within his head.
They have genitive rated (Agni) when soundly sleeping on his upturned (couch); that Agni who is an embryo in many (vegetable) forms, and who, (rendered manifest) by the oblations, abides conscious in the night, unenveloped by darkness.
On wood supine they got the well-formed Infant: a germ in various-fashioned plants was Agni; And in the night, not compassed round by darkness, he dwells exceeding wise, with rays of splendour.
