Give me, O Brihaspati, that sky‑mind they spoke to me. By which the gentle rains came from heaven to the woods, bringing sweetness.
Put, Bṛhaspati, in my mouth a brilliant eulogium, prompt and free from defect, by which we two mayobtain rain from heaven for Śantanu, the sweet drop (sent by you) has entered (our voice).
Within my mouth, Brhaspati, deposit speech lucid, vigorous, and free from weakness, Thereby to win for Santanu the rain-fall. The meath-rich drop from heaven hath passed within it.
