I am among those being born; the fires increased, the heroic today with their own strength. Great is that which Pururavas, having slain the hostile, made for battle—thus the gods grew.
(Ūrvaśī). As soon as he was born the wives (of the gods) surrounded him, the spontaneouslyflowing rivers nourished him, for the gods reared you, Purūravā, for a mighty conflict, for the slaughter of theDasyus. (Nirukta, 3.47).
While he was born the Dames sate down together, the Rivers with free kindness gave him nurture; And then, Pururavas, the Gods increased thee for mighty battle, to destroy the Dasyus.
