agnerapnasaḥ samidastu bhadrāgnirmahī rodasī ā viveśa agnirekaṃ codayatsamatsvagnirvṛtrāṇi dayate purūṇi
Agni seized fuel’s offerings; blessed Agni entered the earth at dawn. Agni alone urged forward, the selfsame Agni gave pity to the Vrtras and filled men.
May the fuel of the efficient Agni be auspicious; Agni has penetrated the vast heaven and earth; Agnianimates (the worshipper) alone in battles; Agni destroys numerous enemies.
Blest be the wood that feeds the active Agni: within the two great worlds hath Agni entered. Agni impels a single man to battle, and with him rends in pieces many a foeman.
