अप॑श्यमस्य मह॒तो म॑हि॒त्वमम॑र्त्यस्य॒ मर्त्या॑सु वि॒क्षु । नाना॒ हनू॒ विभृ॑ते॒ सं भ॑रेते॒ असि॑न्वती॒ बप्स॑ती॒ भूर्य॑त्तः
apaśyamasya mahato mahitvamamartyasya martyāsu vikṣu nānā hanū vibhṛte saṃ bharete asinvatī bapsatī bhūryattaḥ
I saw the greatness of the mighty, the mortality of the immortal among mortals. Many jaws were struck, they bore the weight; the strong-willed drinker became more abundant than before.
I have beheld the might of the adorable (Agni) immortal in (the hearts of) mortal beings; his two jaws,divided asunder, shut together; devouring without masticating consume much (fuel).
I HAVE beheld the might of this Great Being. Immortal in the midst of tribes of mortals. His jaws now open and now shut together: much they devour, insatiately chewing.
