May Varuna with his flood-ward path go before you; the stream that pours forth its wealth to you. Over the land go forth; with your companions lead the foremost of these peoples.
For your course, Sindhu, Varuṇa tore open a path, since you hastened towards food; you go by alofty road down upon the earth, by which (road) you reign in the sight of all worlds.
Varuna cut the channels for thy forward course, O Sindhu, when thou rannest on to win the race. Thou speedest o'er precipitous ridges of the earth, when thou art Lord and Leader of these moving floods.
