अ॒ग्नेः पूर्वे॒ भ्रात॑रो॒ अर्थ॑मे॒तं र॒थीवाध्वा॑न॒मन्वाव॑रीवुः । तस्मा॑द्भि॒या व॑रुण दू॒रमा॑यं गौ॒रो न क्षे॒प्नोर॑विजे॒ ज्यायाः॑
agneḥ pūrve bhrātaro arthametaṃ rathīvādhvānamanvāvarīvuḥ tasmādbhiyā varuṇa dūramāyaṃ gauro na kṣepnoravije jyāyāḥ
Agni's earlier brothers, for this purpose, yoked like charioteers drew onward together. Therefore Varuṇa, from those fears, may not cast away the far-extended bright one more than is fitting.
(Agni). The elder brothers of Agni performed that duty, as the driver of a chariot covers the roaḍ(They were slain), and therefore, Varuṇa, I fled afar through fear. I trembled as a wild ox (tembles) at thebowstring of the archer.
This goal mine elder brothers erst selected, as he who drives a car the way to travel. So,Varuna, I fled afar through terror, as flies the wild-bull from an archer's bowstring.
