किं स्वि॑न्नो॒ राजा॑ जगृहे॒ कद॒स्याति॑ व्र॒तं च॑कृमा॒ को वि वे॑द । मि॒त्रश्चि॒द्धि ष्मा॑ जुहुरा॒णो दे॒वाञ्छ्लोको॒ न या॒तामपि॒ वाजो॒ अस्ति॑
kiṃ svinno rājā jagṛhe kadasyāti vrataṃ cakṛmā ko vi veda mitraściddhi ṣmā juhurāṇo devāñchloko na yātāmapi vājo asti
What indeed, O king, did you accept? Whose vow did you make and who knows it? Mitra and Varuṇa, proclaiming, offered libations; the gods’ host is not that which goes without prize.
But will the royal Agni accept our oblation? Have we duly performed our vows to him? Who decides?As a friend affectionately invited, so let our praise now proceed to the gods; together with the sacrificial food thatis left over.
Hath the King siezed us? How have we offended against his holy ordinance? Who knoweth? For even Mitra mid the Gods is angry there are both song and strength for those who come not.
