somo rājā prathamo brahmajāyāṃ punaḥ prāyacchadahṛṇīyamānaḥ anvartitā varuṇo mitra āsīdagnirhotā hastagṛhyā nināya
Soma the king first offered the Brahma‑birth and again gave it with a beating heart. Varuna and Mitra followed; Agni the sacrificer took it, the hand‑grasping one led it in.
First, the royal Soma, without being ashamed, restored Brahmā's wife (to Bṛhaspati), Varuṇa wasthe inviter, and Mitra, Agni as the ministrant priest taking her by the hand, led her (to her husband).
King Soma first of all, without reluctance, made restitution of the Brahman's consort. Mitra and Varuna were the inviters: Agni as Hota; took her hand and led her.
