को अ॒स्य वे॑द प्रथ॒मस्याह्नः॒ क ईं॑ ददर्श॒ क इ॒ह प्र वो॑चत् । बृ॒हन्मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्य॒ धाम॒ कदु॑ ब्रव आहनो॒ वीच्या॒ नॄन्
ko asya veda prathamasyāhnaḥ ka īṃ dadarśa ka iha pra vocat bṛhanmitrasya varuṇasya dhāma kadu brava āhano vīcyā nṝn
Who knows the first day? Who saw it, who declared it here? Who spoke of the abode of mighty Mitra and Varuna—who told the men about the day of counsel?
(Yama speaks). Who knows anything of this (his) first day (of existence)? Who has beheld it? Whohas here revealed it? The dwelling of Mitra and of Varuṇa is vast. What say you, who punishes men with hell?
Who knows that earliest day whereof thou speakest? Who hatb beheld it? Who can here declare it? Great is the Law of Varuna and Mitra. What, wanton! wilt thou say to men to tempt them?
