स पूर्व॑या नि॒विदा॑ क॒व्यता॒योरि॒माः प्र॒जा अ॑जनय॒न्मनू॑नाम् । वि॒वस्व॑ता॒ चक्ष॑सा॒ द्याम॒पश्च॑ दे॒वा अ॒ग्निं धा॑रयन्द्रविणो॒दाम्
sa pūrvayā nividā kavyatāyorimāḥ prajā ajanayanmanūnām vivasvatā cakṣasā dyāmapaśca devā agniṃ dhārayandraviṇodām
With primeval knowledge he made these generations of poets and of sages; by the eye of Vivasvat and the sky, the gods established Agni, the bearer of delight.
(Propitiated) by the primitive laudatory hymn of Āyu, he created the progeny of Manus, and pervades, with his all-investing splendour, the heavens and the firmament; the gods retain Agni as the giver of (sacrificial) wealth.
At Ayu's ancient call he by his wisdom gave all this progeny of men their being, And, by refulgent light, heaven and the waters. The Gods possessed the wealth. bestowing Agni.
