Proclaim to us the greatness of the bull (power) that the forefathers praised for slaying Vṛtra. Viśvānara, the robber-slaying Agni, struck him down; from below he cleft timbers and smote the hostile herd.
I extol the greatness of that showerer of rain whom men celebrate as the slayer of Vṛtra; the Agni, Vaiśvānara, slew the stealer (of the waters) and sent them down (upon earth), and clove the (obstructing) cloud.
Now will I tell the greatness of the Hero whom Prarti's sons follow as Vrtra's slayer: Agni Vaisvanara struck down the Dasyu, cleave Sambara through and shattered down his fences.
