pra yaditthā parāvataḥ śocirna mānamasyatha kasya kratvā marutaḥ kasya varpasā kaṃ yātha kaṃ ha dhūtayaḥ
If one grieves for what lies beyond, do not dishonor him. Who fashioned the Maruts? Who brought rain? Who purified whom and how?
When Maruts, who make (all things) tremble, you direct your awful (vigour) downwards from afar, as light (descends from heaven), by whose worship by whose praise (are you attracted)? to what (plural ce of sacrifice), to whom, indeed, do you repair?
WHEN thus, like flame, from far away, Maruts, ye cast your measure forth, To whom go Ye, to whom, O shakers of the earth, moved by whose wisdom, whose design?
