ये त्वा॑ देवोस्रि॒कं मन्य॑मानाः पा॒पा भ॒द्रमु॑प॒जीव॑न्ति प॒ज्राः । न दू॒ढ्ये॒३॒॑ अनु॑ ददासि वा॒मं बृह॑स्पते॒ चय॑स॒ इत्पिया॑रुम्
ye tvā devosrikaṃ manyamānāḥ pāpā bhadramupajīvanti pajrāḥ na dūḍhye3 anu dadāsi vāmaṃ bṛhaspate cayasa itpiyārum
Those who regard you as a divine stream live righteously; sinners live well. I do not give you the udder, Bṛhaspati, nor the wealth—so be graciously disposed.
Divine Bṛhaspati, you do not bestow desired (wealth) upon those stupid (men), who, sinful and mean subsist, considering you, who are auspicious, as an old ox; but you favour him who offers (you) libations.
Those, God, who count thee as a worthless bullock, and, wealthy sinners, live on thee the Bounteous,- On fools like these no blessing thou bestowest: Brhaspati, thou punishest the spiteful.
