prati ghorāṇāmetānāmayāsāṃ marutāṃ śaṛṇva āyatāmupabdiḥ ye martyaṃ pṛtanāyantamūmairṛṇāvānaṃ na patayanta sargaiḥ
Hear, O Maruts, the fierce cries of these whose spirit is strong; they who make mortal men pass through torrents do not let their rushing course be broken by births.
The noise of the formidable, dark-coloured, swift-moving and advancing Maruts, is everywhere echoed; (the noise) of them who strike down their mortal (foes) gathering in a host against them, by their self-defending blows, as (they strike down) a contemptible enemy.
Heard is the roar of the advancing Maruts, terrific, glittering, and swiftly moving, Who with their rush o'erthrow as 'twere a sinner the mortal who would fight with those who love him
