ye arvāñcastām̐ u parāca āhurye parāñcastām̐ u arvāca āhuḥ indraśca yā cakrathuḥ soma tāni dhurā na yuktā rajaso vahanti
Those to the east they called para; those to the west they called arva. Indra and Soma, who mixed, do not carry the burdens born of dust of passion.
Those which (the sages) have termed descending, they have also termed ascending; and those they have termed ascending, they have also called descending; and those (orbits) which your, Soma and Indra, have made, bear along the worlds like (oxen) yoked to a twain.
Those that come hitherward they call departing, those that depart they call directed hither. And what so ye have made, Indra and Soma, steeds bear as 'twere yoked to the region's car-pole.
