By you, O generous one, we formerly, from Indra’s wealth, hastened; we approach the foremost chiefs, we call from the wilds. In this rite we invoked you; now sing, O leaders. In this sacrifice we carried forth the offering or filled the heroic deeds.
(Possessed of) former opulence, Maghavan, (through your bounty); protected, Indra, by you, may we overcome those who are arrayed in (hostile) hoste; may we anticipate (our) assailants. (The sacrifice) of today being nigh, speak encouragingly to the presenter of the libation; may we bring together at this rite (suitable offerings and praises) to you, the victor in war; worshipping you, the victor in war.
HELPED, Indra Maghavan, by thee in war of old, may we subdue in fight the men who strive with us, conquer the men who war with us. This day that now is close at hand bless him who pours the Soma juice. In this our sacrifice may we divide the spoil, showing our strength, the spoil of war.
