Forty‑ten chariots of the hundred‑thousand chariot‑host lead the rank at the forefront. The proud, lean, dark‑complexioned steeds, like fierce birds, rush forth and behold the trampled ones.
Forty bay horses, (harnessed) to the chariots, lead the procession in front of a thousand (followers). The Pajras, the kinsmen of Kakṣīvat, rub down the high-spirited steeds, decorated with golden trappings.
Forty bay horses of the ten cars' master before a thousand lead the long procession. Reeling in joy Kaksivan's sons and Pajra's have grounded the coursers decked with pearly trappings.
