स तामुवाचैते कुण्डले गुर्वर्थं मे भिक्षिते दातुमर्हसीति। सा प्रीता तेन तस्य सद्भावेन पात्रमयमनतिक्रमणीयश्चेति मत्वा ते कण्डलेऽवमुच्यास्मै प्रायच्छदाह तक्षको नागराजः सुभृशं प्रार्थयत्यप्रमत्तो नेतुमर्हसीति॥
Uttanka said to her, “You should give me your ear-rings. I beg them from you as I wish to present them to my preceptor.” The queen, having been highly pleased with the conduct of Uttanka, thought that he was a very good man and he could not be refused. Therefore. she took off her ear-rings and handed them over to him. On giving them to Uttanka she said, “These ear-rings are very much sought after by Takshaka, the King of the Nagas. Therefore take them with the greatest care."
