The lord said: A man who keeps a cat in his house is on a par with a low caste person. If a man feeds leading brahmins in the presence of a cat it shall be considered to be similar to the act of a Cāṇḍāla. No doubt need be entertained in this respect. The wind from the buttocks, the wind from the winnowing basket the wind coming out of the mouths of animals, all these coming into contact with a person dispel his merits.
