Sūta continued: A Śiṣṭa (or a wise man) is one who does not come into clash with the scriptural injunctions. He is endowed with the disciplinary conventions and consists of different castes and stages of life. The characteristic of the observance of the Varṇas and Āśramas is that it causes the attainment of godly abodes.
