The sages said:: (?) Foetus originated from semen virile through its assimilative rasa—bodily fluid. It is there that water is mixed initially (?). This is called the Saumya Rāśi. The foetus that is solidified [lit. born of Aśman, stone-solid] is called the second Rāśi. One should know that semen is of the nature of Soma and Menstrual blood is of the nature of fire.
