Sūta said: Just as a bright lamp suspended in the middle of a. house dispels simultaneously the darkness at the sides, above and below, so also the sun who has a thousand (innumerable) rays, who is the lord of planets and the universe, illuminates by means of his rays the entire universe everywhere on all sides.
