Sūta said: Without the reckoning of time, there is neither (the study of) scriptures, nor (religious) initiation nor the daily routine of religious duties. If the seasons are not well defined, how can there be flowers, roots and fruits? How can the crops or fruits of trees come out? How can medicinal herbs and grasses grow?
