If in the Hemanta (December and January) cold winds should blow or snow should fall, or if animals and birds should be heard to cry, or if Rākṣasas and Yakṣas should be seen or voice should be heard in the sky; or if the horizon, the sky, the forests and mountains should appear dark as if covered with smoke, or if the Sun should be invisible both at rising and setting, there will be prosperity in the land.
