The five trees— Arjuna , Aśvakarṇa , Priyaka , Dhava and Udumbara , are suited for the purpose. Either one of these or some other well-known tree, or some tree growing on yellow or black soil shall be selected by the astronomer who, alone and at night, approaching the same, shall touch it and address it with the following hymns.
