Yājñavalkya Smṛti
याज्ञवल्क्यस्मृतिः
The Yājñavalkya Smṛti is the second most important Dharmaśāstra text, attributed to the sage Yājñavalkya. Composed between 100–300 CE, it comprises 3 chapters (Ācāra, Vyavahāra, Prāyaścitta) with 1,010 verses. More systematic and concise than Manusmṛti, it covers personal conduct and religious duties (Ācārādhyāya), civil and criminal law and judicial procedure (Vyavahārādhyāya), and penances and expiations (Prāyaścittādhyāya). It became the foundational legal text for the Mitāksharā school of Hindu law.
