pavasva viśvacarṣaṇe'bhi viśvāni kāvyā sakhā sakhibhya īḍyaḥ
To Pavamāna, who encompasses the world, all poetic hymns: a friend, beloved among friends, be he praised.

To those two who are the world’s sovereigns, who uphold the Pavamāna’s paths—Eastward Soma stood firm.

Around the abodes that Soma pours from, you, O Soma, spread throughout; Pavamāna, with rites, flows to the poet.

Born from the sacred, he encompassed all with favor; companion, friend, he rose up to the heights.

Your bright ones (Shukras) were the worships touching the sky, the Soma purified by the abodes of the radiant ones.

All the herds low to thee, the kine making gentle sound in the forest where thou art offered.

For the purifier the poets bestowed composed hymns; they became tall, not of the realm of mere hearsay.

acchā kośaṃ madhuścutamasṛgraṃ vāre avyaye avāvaśanta dhītayaḥ
They set the choicest store of honey and sweet pressed things in the unchanging bay; the thoughtful ones poured them forth.

The mighty sea became like Indra’s realm; the cows, not mere milch‑beasts, came from the womb of Nrit.

Great art thou, Soma, eldest, bestower of vigour to the strong; fight, harnessing horses, sing thy victory.

He who from the strong with draughts and swords, from sharpened edges, from many arms, bound me to greatness.

Thou, Soma, art the shining friend, bearer of song with slender forms; we choose thee for friendship, choose thee for union.

Agni the seer, purifier, of the five‑born, the priestly guardian; we have set this great song for him.

The purifier greatly surpasses in wealth and praise; the hero looks forth, seeing all.

Make fitness with lifetimes, O he who sharpens thought—Indra, act with remedy and discernment.

pavamāna ṛtaṃ bṛhacchukraṃ jyotirajījanat kṛṣṇā tamāṃsi jaṅghanat
The purifier made the law broad, the bright one produced light; she struck and made dark the black one.

The purifier struck down; Hari and the moon protected. The aged ones lamented without grief.

The purifier, like a chariot of darkness, with bright ones and bright and dark—Hari, the moon, and the Marut host.

These are the well-protected Indras, pure and imperishable; Indra of many offerings returns again and again.

This Soma played on the skins of cows with the mountains; he poured out intoxication upon Indra.

yasya te dyumnavatpayaḥ pavamānābhṛtaṃ divaḥ tena no mṛḷa jīvase
From whom for you the heaven bears nourishing milk—the purifier-bearing heaven; by that may you live, O Mṛḷa.
