sakhāya ā śiṣāmahi brahmendrāya vajriṇe stuṣa ū ṣu vo nṛtamāya dhṛṣṇave
Come, friend, to our disciples, O Indra-like wielder of thunderbolt; be pleased with our song and uplift us for glorious dance.

śavasā hyasi śruto vṛtrahatyena vṛtrahā maghairmaghono ati śūra dāśasi
Thou art famed for slaying Vrtra; famed in slaughter, O Slayer of foes; hero among heroes, thou art victorious with might.

sa naḥ stavāna ā bhara rayiṃ citraśravastamam nireke cidyo harivo vasurdadiḥ
He bore our hymns and gave splendid wealth, the marvelous fame; the wealthy, waxen with treasure, brought riches.

ā nirekamuta priyamindra darṣi janānām dhṛṣatā dhṛṣṇo stavamāna ā bhara
Behold, Indra, grant us the beloved boon alone; the bold one, bearing might, upheld us when we praised.

na te savyaṃ na dakṣiṇaṃ hastaṃ varanta āmuraḥ na paribādho harivo gaviṣṭiṣu
Thy hand is neither left nor right—bring forth the sacred votive (amṛta), O generous one; let no assault fall upon the heroes assembled.

ā tvā gobhiriva vrajaṃ gīrbhirṛṇomyadrivaḥ ā smā kāmaṃ jariturā manaḥ pṛṇa
Drive us like cows to pastures with stirring songs and loud calls; fulfill in us the desire, O mighty one, and satisfy the quickening mind.

viśvāni viśvamanaso dhiyā no vṛtrahantama ugra praṇetaradhi ṣū vaso gahi
All-pervading in mind and understanding, slayer of Vritra, send forth the fierce wealth-bringing might; reach the dwelling with power.

vayaṃ te asya vṛtrahanvidyāma śūra navyasaḥ vasoḥ spārhasya puruhūta rādhasaḥ
We perform for thee the Vritra-slaying hymn, O brave new ones; for the wealth of Vasu, the sacrificial priests invoke and spread the enkindling rite.

इन्द्र॒ यथा॒ ह्यस्ति॒ तेऽप॑रीतं नृतो॒ शवः॑ । अमृ॑क्ता रा॒तिः पु॑रुहूत दा॒शुषे॑
indra yathā hyasti te'parītaṃ nṛto śavaḥ amṛktā rātiḥ puruhūta dāśuṣe
As Indra moves forth, the hymn of slaughter is unbounded; the immortal joy is the priestly feast for the hosts.

ā vṛṣasva mahāmaha mahe nṛtama rādhase dṛḷhaściddṛhya maghavanmaghattaye
Offer great bulls, great in might, and the heroic gifts to the priests of battle; resolute, give the wealth for the brave.

nū anyatrā cidadrivastvanno jagmurāśasaḥ maghavañchagdhi tava tanna ūtibhiḥ
There was no other like the mountain whose spoil they seized; O generous are thy gifts—may they be thine, borne by fervent praise.

nahya1ṅga nṛto tvadanyaṃ vindāmi rādhase rāye dyumnāya śavase ca girvaṇaḥ
I find no other lord of men than you, O Radiant One; to the giver of wealth, to the shining sky and to the mighty speech.

एन्दु॒मिन्द्रा॑य सिञ्चत॒ पिबा॑ति सो॒म्यं मधु॑ । प्र राध॑सा चोदयाते महित्व॒ना
endumindrāya siñcata pibāti somyaṃ madhu pra rādhasā codayāte mahitvanā
Pour forth, O Indra, the nectar; drink the Soma honey. The Radiant One urges on with great might.

upo harīṇāṃ patiṃ dakṣaṃ pṛñcantamabravam nūnaṃ śrudhi stuvato aśvyasya
He addressed the swift, skilled lord of the deer: indeed attend, you who praise the fleet horse.

न॒ह्य१॒॑ङ्ग पु॒रा च॒न ज॒ज्ञे वी॒रत॑र॒स्त्वत् । नकी॑ रा॒या नैवथा॒ न भ॒न्दना॑
nahya1ṅga purā cana jajñe vīratarastvat nakī rāyā naivathā na bhandanā
Long ago men knew your valor; your heroic might was revealed; kings did not bind you with fetters.

एदु॒ मध्वो॑ म॒दिन्त॑रं सि॒ञ्च वा॑ध्वर्यो॒ अन्ध॑सः । ए॒वा हि वी॒रः स्तव॑ते स॒दावृ॑धः
edu madhvo madintaraṃ siñca vādhvaryo andhasaḥ evā hi vīraḥ stavate sadāvṛdhaḥ
These honeyed ones pour forth strength within; the blind slayer pours it. Thus the hero always increases in praise.

इन्द्र॑ स्थातर्हरीणां॒ नकि॑ष्टे पू॒र्व्यस्तु॑तिम् । उदा॑नंश॒ शव॑सा॒ न भ॒न्दना॑
indra sthātarharīṇāṃ nakiṣṭe pūrvyastutim udānaṃśa śavasā na bhandanā
Indra stands as protector of the deer; the least praise is eastward. The uplifted shout is not to be bound.

taṃ vo vājānāṃ patimahūmahi śravasyavaḥ aprāyubhiryajñebhirvāvṛdhenyam
This, lord of the steeds, we make your protector, hearing to you: with earnest rites and offerings may you increase.

eto nvindraṃ stavāma sakhāyaḥ stomyaṃ naram kṛṣṭīryo viśvā abhyastyeka it
We hymn Indra, friend of men, praised manful; the ploughs of all flourish as one.

अगो॑रुधाय ग॒विषे॑ द्यु॒क्षाय॒ दस्म्यं॒ वचः॑ । घृ॒तात्स्वादी॑यो॒ मधु॑नश्च वोचत
agorudhāya gaviṣe dyukṣāya dasmyaṃ vacaḥ ghṛtātsvādīyo madhunaśca vocata
He spoke the word for the herd's pasture, for the sky’s luminous realm. The ghee, the nectars and the honey he declared.

यस्यामि॑तानि वी॒र्या॒३॒॑ न राधः॒ पर्ये॑तवे । ज्योति॒र्न विश्व॑म॒भ्यस्ति॒ दक्षि॑णा
yasyāmitāni vīryā3 na rādhaḥ paryetave jyotirna viśvamabhyasti dakṣiṇā
Whose heroic deeds are boundless — Radiant One, they spread not afar. His light pervades the world to the south.

स्तु॒हीन्द्रं॑ व्यश्व॒वदनू॑र्मिं वा॒जिनं॒ यम॑म् । अ॒र्यो गयं॒ मंह॑मानं॒ वि दा॒शुषे॑
stuhīndraṃ vyaśvavadanūrmiṃ vājinaṃ yamam aryo gayaṃ maṃhamānaṃ vi dāśuṣe
Praise Indra who is the chariot-driver, the mighty Yama; the noble one seize greatness; give strength to the steed.

ए॒वा नू॒नमुप॑ स्तुहि॒ वैय॑श्व दश॒मं नव॑म् । सुवि॑द्वांसं च॒र्कृत्यं॑ च॒रणी॑नाम्
evā nūnamupa stuhi vaiyaśva daśamaṃ navam suvidvāṃsaṃ carkṛtyaṃ caraṇīnām
Indeed thus praise him: the well-renowned tenth and ninth; having made the wise powerful and honoring the feet.

वेत्था॒ हि निरृ॑तीनां॒ वज्र॑हस्त परि॒वृज॑म् । अह॑रहः शु॒न्ध्युः प॑रि॒पदा॑मिव
vetthā hi nirṛtīnāṃ vajrahasta parivṛjam aharahaḥ śundhyuḥ paripadāmiva
Know that the bolt-hand surrounds the lawless, like a guard: day and night it prowls around like a hound.

तदि॒न्द्राव॒ आ भ॑र॒ येना॑ दंसिष्ठ॒ कृत्व॑ने । द्वि॒ता कुत्सा॑य शिश्नथो॒ नि चो॑दय
tadindrāva ā bhara yenā daṃsiṣṭha kṛtvane dvitā kutsāya śiśnatho ni codaya
Then Indra bore that by which the conqueror was made. He struck twice; he urged on from below and stirred them up.

तमु॑ त्वा नू॒नमी॑महे॒ नव्यं॑ दंसिष्ठ॒ सन्य॑से । स त्वं नो॒ विश्वा॑ अ॒भिमा॑तीः स॒क्षणिः॑
tamu tvā nūnamīmahe navyaṃ daṃsiṣṭha sanyase sa tvaṃ no viśvā abhimātīḥ sakṣaṇiḥ
Truly we now renounce this new conquering spear; you be for us all-esteemed, a witnessing protector.

य ऋक्षा॒दंह॑सो मु॒चद्यो वार्या॑त्स॒प्त सिन्धु॑षु । वध॑र्दा॒सस्य॑ तुविनृम्ण नीनमः
ya ṛkṣādaṃhaso mucadyo vāryātsapta sindhuṣu vadhardāsasya tuvinṛmṇa nīnamaḥ
He who freed the roaring beasts, the flood drove them across the seven rivers. He slew the slave; downcast they bow not.

यथा॑ वरो सु॒षाम्णे॑ स॒निभ्य॒ आव॑हो र॒यिम् । व्य॑श्वेभ्यः सुभगे वाजिनीवति
yathā varo suṣāmṇe sanibhya āvaho rayim vyaśvebhyaḥ subhage vājinīvati
As when the excellent cow-caller calls, he summoned the wealth-bringing mares to the prosperous ones.

ā nāryasya dakṣiṇā vyaśvām̐ etu sominaḥ sthūraṃ ca rādhaḥ śatavatsahasravat
Come to the south, O irresistible Soma’s chariots; Radiant is mighty, with hundreds and thousands of companions.

यत्त्वा॑ पृ॒च्छादी॑जा॒नः कु॑ह॒या कु॑हयाकृते । ए॒षो अप॑श्रितो व॒लो गो॑म॒तीमव॑ तिष्ठति
yattvā pṛcchādījānaḥ kuhayā kuhayākṛte eṣo apaśrito valo gomatīmava tiṣṭhati
When the seeker asked the born ones by the cowshed, this unowned kine stands near the fertile Gomatī.
