इ॒यं वा॑म॒स्य मन्म॑न॒ इन्द्रा॑ग्नी पू॒र्व्यस्तु॑तिः । अ॒भ्राद्वृ॒ष्टिरि॑वाजनि
iyaṃ vāmasya manmana indrāgnī pūrvyastutiḥ abhrādvṛṣṭirivājani
This is the praise of Indra and Agni, the left-hand mind’s earlier hymn. It rained like cloud-born bounty.

शृ॒णु॒तं ज॑रि॒तुर्हव॒मिन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ वन॑तं॒ गिरः॑ । ई॒शा॒ना पि॑प्यतं॒ धियः॑
śaṛṇutaṃ jariturhavamindrāgnī vanataṃ giraḥ īśānā pipyataṃ dhiyaḥ
Listen to the chant, the priestly call—Indra and Agni—forest-dwelling voice. The Lordly one desired the thoughts.

मा पा॑प॒त्वाय॑ नो न॒रेन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ माभिश॑स्तये । मा नो॑ रीरधतं नि॒दे
mā pāpatvāya no narendrāgnī mābhiśastaye mā no rīradhataṃ nide
May Indra and Agni not harm us, O kings; do not afflict us. May not our minds be torn apart in slumber.

इन्द्रे॑ अ॒ग्ना नमो॑ बृ॒हत्सु॑वृ॒क्तिमेर॑यामहे । धि॒या धेना॑ अव॒स्यवः॑
indre agnā namo bṛhatsuvṛktimerayāmahe dhiyā dhenā avasyavaḥ
To Indra and Agni we offer homage, great in mighty eloquence. May they grant the thought, the vigorous kine as wealth.

ता हि शश्व॑न्त॒ ईळ॑त इ॒त्था विप्रा॑स ऊ॒तये॑ । स॒बाधो॒ वाज॑सातये
tā hi śaśvanta īḷata itthā viprāsa ūtaye sabādho vājasātaye
They indeed have been everlasting, the soothing hymns, thus roused the sages to the offering. All have strengthened the power of the praise.

ता वां॑ गी॒र्भिर्वि॑प॒न्यवः॒ प्रय॑स्वन्तो हवामहे । मे॒धसा॑ता सनि॒ष्यवः॑
tā vāṃ gīrbhirvipanyavaḥ prayasvanto havāmahe medhasātā saniṣyavaḥ
With those voices the Brahmins, active in prayers, perform the rite; endowed with wisdom they are strong and steadfast.

इन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ अव॒सा ग॑तम॒स्मभ्यं॑ चर्षणीसहा । मा नो॑ दुः॒शंस॑ ईशत
indrāgnī avasā gatamasmabhyaṃ carṣaṇīsahā mā no duḥśaṃsa īśata
Indra and Agni have come down to us together, bearing the sacrificial grass; may they not speak ill of us.

मा कस्य॑ नो॒ अर॑रुषो धू॒र्तिः प्रण॒ङ्मर्त्य॑स्य । इन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ शर्म॑ यच्छतम्
mā kasya no araruṣo dhūrtiḥ praṇaṅmartyasya indrāgnī śarma yacchatam
Let not guile, deceit aimed at mortals, assail us; Indra and Agni, grant the protection that brings honour.

गोम॒द्धिर॑ण्यव॒द्वसु॒ यद्वा॒मश्वा॑व॒दीम॑हे । इन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ तद्व॑नेमहि
gomaddhiraṇyavadvasu yadvāmaśvāvadīmahe indrāgnī tadvanemahi
Like a bull among kine, like wealth among cattle—Indra and Agni, may we dwell in that wood.

यत्सोम॒ आ सु॒ते नर॑ इन्द्रा॒ग्नी अजो॑हवुः । सप्ती॑वन्ता सप॒र्यवः॑
yatsoma ā sute nara indrāgnī ajohavuḥ saptīvantā saparyavaḥ
What Soma gave when men were born—Indra and Agni received it; having seven friends and companions they prospered.

उ॒क्थेभि॑र्वृत्र॒हन्त॑मा॒ या म॑न्दा॒ना चि॒दा गि॒रा । आ॒ङ्गू॒षैरा॒विवा॑सतः
ukthebhirvṛtrahantamā yā mandānā cidā girā āṅgūṣairāvivāsataḥ
With hymns the slayer of Vṛtra, the one who broke dull, obstructing mountains, settled them with his fingers like spreading fires.

ताविद्दुः॒शंसं॒ मर्त्यं॒ दुर्वि॑द्वांसं रक्ष॒स्विन॑म् । आ॒भो॒गं हन्म॑ना हतमुद॒धिं हन्म॑ना हतम्
tāvidduḥśaṃsaṃ martyaṃ durvidvāṃsaṃ rakṣasvinam ābhogaṃ hanmanā hatamudadhiṃ hanmanā hatam
Drive away this malice of mortals, this hard-to-know ill intent; slay the possession that harms us with your mind, slay the flood that strikes us down.
