In this place Indra roared like an angry stallion; his battle-cry sounded forth. Where the kine, chested, were held fast, the bright ones leapt, O men, like roaring bulls.

Give us that generous one, wide-spreading, worthy of song—open for us the bovine herd’s riches, Indra, for our praise. May we be victorious through you as you are for the people of old; make our dwelling fruitful.

Whomsoever you gave as gift, whether servant or noble, Indra made him brave in battle. Let those who wished be easy to us; O warrior, we follow them in conflict.

He who with streams of oblations and manifold wealth came forth to aid, that Indra we invoke today, hearing his fame: we call upon Indra who grants the manly prize.

I indeed renounce you not, Indra; I, having heard, follow the famed bull’s call. Release from mockery and censure—why have you bound yourself with purses of thieves?
