यु॒ञ्जन्ति॑ ब्र॒ध्नम॑रु॒षं चर॑न्तं॒ परि॑ त॒स्थुषः॑ । रोच॑न्ते रोच॒ना दि॒वि
yuñjanti bradhnamaruṣaṃ carantaṃ pari tasthuṣaḥ rocante rocanā divi
They harness strength, moving and standing around; they shine, the bright ones, in the sky.

यु॒ञ्जन्त्य॑स्य॒ काम्या॒ हरी॒ विप॑क्षसा॒ रथे॑ । शोणा॑ धृ॒ष्णू नृ॒वाह॑सा
yuñjantyasya kāmyā harī vipakṣasā rathe śoṇā dhṛṣṇū nṛvāhasā
They yoked the desirable mares to the chariot with bridles; the bay ones held fast with reins.

They made a banner for the standard, offered fat for the oblation and assembled together for the rite.

ādaha svadhāmanu punargarbhatvamerire dadhānā nāma yajñiyam
He kindled the sacred fire again upon the ritual-stone, placing offerings named for the sacrifice.

vīḷu cidārujatnubhirguhā cidindra vahnibhiḥ avinda usriyā anu
They stirred the fuel, the bright wood, the caverns with Indra’s fires; the dawn-guard moved onward.

As the gods who know the counsel directed, the voice revealed the powerful thought—this was heard widely.

indreṇa saṃ hi dṛkṣase saṃjagmāno abibhyuṣā mandū samānavarcasā
When you saw Indra approaching, clothed in splendour, you moved together with him; kindly one, with equal radiance.

With unblemished flashes the heaven shone together with the mighty ones; for Indra’s wished-for hosts.

अतः॑ परिज्म॒न्ना ग॑हि दि॒वो वा॑ रोच॒नादधि॑ । सम॑स्मिन्नृञ्जते॒ गिरः॑
ataḥ parijmannā gahi divo vā rocanādadhi samasminnṛñjate giraḥ
Therefore the light of heaven took hold above the shining, and the speech rejoiced within that assembly.

इ॒तो वा॑ सा॒तिमीम॑हे दि॒वो वा॒ पार्थि॑वा॒दधि॑ । इन्द्रं॑ म॒हो वा॒ रज॑सः
ito vā sātimīmahe divo vā pārthivādadhi indraṃ maho vā rajasaḥ
From here the shining ones invoked the heaven and the earthly realm; Indra, great in splendour, of radiant vigour.
