अघोरेशस्य महात्म्यं भवता कथितं पुरा। पूजां प्रतिष्ठां देवस्य भगवन्वक्तुमर्हसि।।
aghoreśasya mahātmyaṃ bhavatā kathitaṃ purā| pūjāṃ pratiṣṭhāṃ devasya bhagavanvaktumarhasi||
The sages said: The greatness of Aghoreśa had been mentioned by you formerly. O saintly lord, it behoves you now to recount the installation and worship of the lord Aghora.

अघोरेणाङ्ग युक्तेन विधिवच्च विशेषतः। प्रतिष्ठालिङ्गविधिना नान्यता मुनिपुङ्गवाः।।
aghoreṇāṅga yuktena vidhivacca viśeṣataḥ| pratiṣṭhāliṅgavidhinā nānyatā munipuṅgavāḥ||
Sūta said: O leading sages, the installation of Aghoreśa is in accordance with the general injunctions regarding the Liṅga, with the distinction that it shall be accompanied by the Aghora mantra and its ancillaries.[1]

तथाग्निपूजां वै कुर्याद्यथा पूजा तथैव च। सहस्रं वा तदर्धं वा शतमष्टोत्तरं तु वा।।
tathāgnipūjāṃ vai kuryādyathā pūjā tathaiva ca| sahasraṃ vā tadardhaṃ vā śatamaṣṭottaraṃ tu vā||
Sūta said: The devotee shall perform the worship of the sacred fire. Homas shall be performed in the same manner[2] as the worship, one thousand, five hundred, or hundred and eight times. Homas shall be performed with gingelly seeds mixed with curds, honey and ghee. Homa performed with ghee, fried grain flour and honey dispels all miseries.

तिलैर्हेमः प्रकर्तव्यो दधिमध्वाज्यसंयुतैः। घृतसक्तुमदूनां च सर्वदुःखप्रमार्जनम।।
tilairhemaḥ prakartavyo dadhimadhvājyasaṃyutaiḥ| ghṛtasaktumadūnāṃ ca sarvaduḥkhapramārjanam||
Sūta said: The devotee shall perform the worship of the sacred fire. Homas shall be performed in the same manner[2] as the worship, one thousand, five hundred, or hundred and eight times. व्याधीनां नाशनं चैव तिलहोमस्तु भूतिदः। सहस्रेण महाभूतिः शतेन व्याधिनाशनम।।
vyādhīnāṃ nāśanaṃ caiva tilahomastu bhūtidaḥ| sahasreṇa mahābhūtiḥ śatena vyādhināśanam||
Sūta said: It is destructive of ailments. Homa with gingelly seeds bestows prosperity. A thousand Homas bring about great prosperity and a hundred Homas destroy ailments.

सर्वदुःखविनिर्मुक्तो जपेन च न संशयः। अष्टोत्तरशतेनैव त्रिकाले च यथाविधि।।
sarvaduḥkhavinirmukto japena ca na saṃśayaḥ| aṣṭottaraśatenaiva trikāle ca yathāvidhi||
Sūta said: By means of japa performed in accordance with the injunctions, hundred and eight times and thrice a day, one shall undoubtedly be rid of all miseries. If he performs the japa, a thousand and eight times, Siddhis occur to him within six months. Even the kings and rulers of provinces achieve Siddhis. There is no doubt about this.

अष्टोत्तरसहस्रेण षण्मासाज्जायते ध्रुवम। सिद्धयो नैव संदेहो राज्यमण्डालिनामपि।।
aṣṭottarasahasreṇa ṣaṇmāsājjāyate dhruvam| siddhayo naiva saṃdeho rājyamaṇḍālināmapi||
Sūta said: By means of japa performed in accordance with the injunctions, hundred and eight times and thrice a day, one shall undoubtedly be rid of all miseries. If he performs the japa, a thousand and eight times, Siddhis occur to him within six months. Even the kings and rulers of provinces achieve Siddhis. There is no doubt about this.

सहस्रेण ज्वरो याति क्षीरेण च जुहोति यम। त्रिकालं मासमेकं तु सहस्रं जुहुयात्पयः।।
sahasreṇa jvaro yāti kṣīreṇa ca juhoti yam| trikālaṃ māsamekaṃ tu sahasraṃ juhuyātpayaḥ||
Sūta said: By means of a thousand times japas, fever is dispelled. If a devotee performs a thousand Homas thrice a day with milk and continues this for a month, he attains excellent good fortune within a mouth. If a devotee performs Homa with the mixture of honey, ghee and curds for a year, he achieves Siddhis. If Homa is performed by means of barley, milk and ghee or good rice, lord Aghora is delighted.

मासेन सिद्ध्यते तस्य महासौभाग्यमुत्तमम। सिद्ध्यते चाब्दहोमेन क्षौद्राज्यदधिसंयुतम।।
māsena siddhyate tasya mahāsaubhāgyamuttamam| siddhyate cābdahomena kṣaudrājyadadhisaṃyutam||
Sūta said: By means of a thousand times japas, fever is dispelled. If a devotee performs a thousand Homas thrice a day with milk and continues this for a month, he attains excellent good fortune within a mouth. यवक्षीराज्यहोमेन जातितण्डुलकेन वा। प्रीयेत भगवानीशो ह्यघोरः परमेश्वरः।।
yavakṣīrājyahomena jātitaṇḍulakena vā| prīyeta bhagavānīśo hyaghoraḥ parameśvaraḥ||
Sūta said: By means of a thousand times japas, fever is dispelled. If a devotee performs a thousand Homas thrice a day with milk and continues this for a month, he attains excellent good fortune within a mouth. If a devotee performs Homa with the mixture of honey, ghee and curds for a year, he achieves Siddhis. If Homa is performed by means of barley, milk and ghee or good rice, lord Aghora is delighted.

दध्ना पुष्टिर्नृपाणां च क्षीरहोमेन शान्तिकम। षण्मासं तु घृतं हुत्वा सर्वव्याधिविनाशनम।।
dadhnā puṣṭirnṛpāṇāṃ ca kṣīrahomena śāntikam| ṣaṇmāsaṃ tu ghṛtaṃ hutvā sarvavyādhivināśanam||
Sūta said: By performing Homa with curds, kings gain prosperity. By performing Homa with milk one attains tranquillity. By performing Homa with ghee for six months all ailments are destroyed.

राजयक्ष्मा तिलैर्हेमान्नश्यते वत्सरेण तु। यवहोमेन चायुष्यं घृतेन च जयस्तदा।।
rājayakṣmā tilairhemānnaśyate vatsareṇa tu| yavahomena cāyuṣyaṃ ghṛtena ca jayastadā||
Sūta said: By performing Homa with gingelly seeds consumption is dispelled within a year. By performing Homa with barley one attains longevity and with ghee one gains victory.

सर्वकुष्ठक्षयार्थं च मधुनाक्तैश्च तण्डुलैः। जुहुयादयुतं नित्यं षण्मासान्नियतः सदा।।
sarvakuṣṭhakṣayārthaṃ ca madhunāktaiśca taṇḍulaiḥ| juhuyādayutaṃ nityaṃ ṣaṇmāsānniyataḥ sadā||
Sūta said: For despelling leprosy one shall perform ten thousand Homas everyday with rice-grains smeared with honey, regularly for six months.

आज्यङ्क्षीरं मधुश्चैव मधुरत्रयमुच्यते। समस्तं तुष्यते तस्य नाशयेद्वै भगन्दरम।।
ājyaṅkṣīraṃ madhuścaiva madhuratrayamucyate| samastaṃ tuṣyate tasya nāśayedvai bhagandaram||
Sūta said: Ghee, milk and honey constitute a trio of sweets. If one performs Homa with these three, one can dispel fistula of the pudendum.

केवलं घृतहोमेन सर्वरोगक्षयः स्मृतः। सर्वव्याधि हरं ध्यानं स्थापनं विधिनार्चनम।।
kevalaṃ ghṛtahomena sarvarogakṣayaḥ smṛtaḥ| sarvavyādhi haraṃ dhyānaṃ sthāpanaṃ vidhinārcanam||
Sūta said: By performing Homa with ghee alone all ailments are dispelled. Meditation, installation and due worship remove all ailments. This is the mode of installation of Aghora the great Ātman. Formerly this was mentioned by Nandin to the son of Brahmā[3] who was his disciple. O sages of good holy rites, by him it was mentioned to Vyāsa.

एवं संक्षेपतः प्रोक्तमघोरस्य महात्मनः। प्रतिष्ठा यजनं सर्वं नन्दिना कथितं पुरा।।
evaṃ saṃkṣepataḥ proktamaghorasya mahātmanaḥ| pratiṣṭhā yajanaṃ sarvaṃ nandinā kathitaṃ purā||
Sūta said: By performing Homa with ghee alone all ailments are dispelled. Meditation, installation and due worship remove all ailments. This is the mode of installation of Aghora the great Ātman. Sūta said: By performing Homa with ghee alone all ailments are dispelled. Meditation, installation and due worship remove all ailments. This is the mode of installation of Aghora the great Ātman.
