Sūta said: On hearing this, the sages who were in doubt asked Romaharṣaṇa once again the answer (for the same).

Sūta said: When the night of Brahmā, born of the unmanifest one, dawned, this (visible comet) that had not been manifested and developed was completely enveloped by the darkness of the night.

yaścāsau tapate sūrye śuciragnistu sa smṛtaḥ| vaidyuto 'bjastu vijñeyasteṣāṃ vakṣye 'tha lakṣamam||
Sūta said: That which blazes in the sun is remembered as Śuci (pure). Abja (born of water) should be known as Vaidyut (Lightening etc.) I shall recount their characteristics.

vaidyuto jāṭharaḥ sauro hyapāṃ garbhāstrayo 'grayaḥ| tasmādapaḥ pibansūryo gobhirdīpyatyasau divi||
Sūta said: The fires born of water are three, viz.: Vaidyut (Lightening) Jāṭhara (gastric) and Saura (Solar). It is on account of this, that the sun blazes in the heaven after drinking water by means of his rays.

वैद्युतेन समाविष्टो वार्ष्यो नाद्भिः प्रशाम्यति। मानवा नां च कुक्षिस्थो नाद्भिः शास्यति पावकः।।
vaidyutena samāviṣṭo vārṣyo nādbhiḥ praśāmyati| mānavā nāṃ ca kukṣistho nādbhiḥ śāsyati pāvakaḥ||
Sūta said: The (fire) Vārṣya (originating from Varṣā or rain) contained in lightening, does not become cool by means of water. The fire that abides within the stomach of human beings does not become cool by means of water.

kāṣṭhendhanastu nirmathyaḥ so 'dbhiḥ śāmyati pāvakaḥ| arciṣmānpavamāno 'gnirniṣprabho jāṭharaḥ smṛtaḥ||
Sūta said: The Nirmathya. fire (i.e. the fire produced by churning or friction) has wood for its fuel. That fire is brought under control by means of water.

यश्चायं मण्डले शुक्लो निरूष्मा संप्रकाशकः। प्रभा सौरी तु पादेन ह्यस्तं याति देवाकरे।।
yaścāyaṃ maṇḍale śuklo nirūṣmā saṃprakāśakaḥ| prabhā saurī tu pādena hyastaṃ yāti devākare||
Sūta said: (The same is the case with) the fire without heat that is in the zone (of the sun). It is white and it illuminates.

Sūta said: The heat of the fire, of the terrestrial fire, enters the sun as it rises with its rays. Hence the fire blazes. The power of illumination and heat are (respectively) the solar and fiery splendour.

Sūta said: It is in this order that in the southern and northern hemispheres, the day and the night enter water at the times of sunrise and sunset.
